The public register shows the details of your company’s directors and secretaries. When any of these details change, such as a name or an address, the register must be updated. This is a legal requirement and cannot be ignored. We prepare and file the change notices for you, including the less common cases, such as a CIC manager or a judicial factor. This keeps your company’s record correct and compliant. Forms covered: CH01 to CH05.
CH01 is made under section 167H of the Companies Act 2006 and is used to change the details of an individual who is a director. It cannot be used to change the details of a corporate director; form CH02 is used for that.
The form does not print a deadline. GOV.UK states that Companies House must be told within 14 days of a change to a director or to a director’s personal details, such as an address.
The company name and number must match the public register and the date of change in section 3 must be completed. If the service address has changed, either the no-change box is ticked or the new usual residential address is given in section 5a. Any new address must be a physical location and cannot be a PO Box (unless part of a full service address), DX or LP (Legal Post in Scotland) number.
Section 1 gives the company number and name. Section 2 gives the director’s current details on the register: month and year of birth (voluntary), title, forenames and surname. Section 3 gives the date of change of details. Section 4 gives a change of name (title, forenames, surname). Section 5 gives a change of service address, which appears on the public record and may be stated as the company’s registered office; a box is ticked to confirm there is no change in the director’s residential address. Section 5a (a page not shown on the public record) gives a change of usual residential address, which may be stated as the same as the service address unless the service address is the registered office. Section 6 gives a change of country or state of residence and of nationality. Section 7 is authentication by printed name.
CH02 is made under section 167H of the Companies Act 2006 and is used to change the details of a corporate director. It cannot be used for a corporate secretary; form CH04 is used for that.
The form does not print a deadline. GOV.UK states that Companies House must be told within 14 days of a change to directors or their details.
The company name and number must match the public register, and the date of change in section 3 and the relevant change of details must be entered. A new address must be a physical location and cannot be a PO Box (unless part of a full address), DX or LP number. Where details of the register are given, its registration number must also be given.
Section 1 gives the company number and name. Section 2 gives the director’s current details on the register, being the corporate body or firm name. Section 3 gives the date of change of details. Section 6 gives any change of legal details: the legal form of the corporate body or firm, the governing law, the register in which it is entered (including the state) and the new registration number. Section 7 is authentication by printed name.

It cannot be used to register any other change of service address.
The form does not state a filing deadline, and the GOV.UK guidance reviewed does not give one for this form. The change should be filed promptly after the service address changes.
The company name and number must match the public register, and the position, name and new service address must be entered correctly. The address must be a physical location and cannot be a PO Box (unless part of a full address), DX or LP (Legal Post in Scotland) number. Section 3 gives the full name (title, forenames, surname or corporate name). Section 4 gives the new service address, which appears on the public record and does not have to be the usual residential address. Section 5 is the signature.
